Goodbye Virgin Islands!

Yep... that's right... goodbye Virgin Islands!

The time has come.  After six charter seasons in the VI's, we are off to a new adventure.

I am not going to lie... this was a really tough post for me.  I have a lot of different emotions going on right now.  It's been so challenging yet so rewarding all at the same time.  As you can imagine, it's not always been easy living and working on a boat in the tropics.

Yes, it's one of the most beautiful places in the world, but for me, and I know Hubby too, it's been the people that have made it all worthwhile.  We have made friends with some of the most interesting and incredible individuals, from those that live and work on the islands, charter guests we've hosted, to other yacht crews.  The adventures have been awesome, but it's the people we've shared them with that have made them absolutely unforgettable.

We finished our last charter with a wonderful young honeymoon couple from the Mid West.  They really reminded us of why we got into this in the first place.  They experienced a lot of lasts with us.  I shed a few tears leaving my favorite spots like Valley Trunk Bay and the North Sound.  I can't think of a nicer couple to have shared our lasts with.  Again... it's all about the people!

These are some of the things I will miss the most...

White Sand Beaches

Blue Turquoise Water

Sunsets

Island Hiking

My Office View

Hubby's Evening Concerts

Snorkeling

Sailing in the Caribbean

The new adventure begins...

Green Flash is coming to Santa Barbara!

For now She will be safe and sound on Tortola (knock on wood) until November.  After hurricane season, the sailing passage to the West Coast of California will begin.  Pretty cool to think Green Flash went through the Panama Canal six years ago on the way to the Virgin Islands and now She will go back through the Canal the opposite direction.

It'a a huge process hauling the boat and readying her for hurricane storage.  We are almost done.  By tonight I will be breathing a huge sigh of relief.

I am so excited to continue the adventures and recipes on my blog aboard Green Flash in beautiful Santa Barbara.  We have big plans for her in our home town... so stay tuned.

For anyone that knows me, they know I hate goodbyes.  So for now it's...

till we meet again Virgin Islands!!
